Walking alongside Leigh during her formation was a true blessing in several ways. First, meeting Leigh and listening to her story and conversion was an inspiration. It brought to mind my own conversion story and gave me an opportunity to refresh my commitment to my Catholic beliefs. Second, I enjoyed connecting over coffee and listening to how God was working in her life through her formation and the people she was meeting at St. Paul’s. Third, sharing Holy Week with Leigh and the other Catechumens was truly beautiful. In many ways it brought to life God’s love for each of us. It reminded me he loves us, and wants to be with us no matter where we are in our faith walk. Sponsoring and RCIA Candidate is not an overwhelming time commitment and you are not responsible for their formation. You are simply a friend, a companion and a listening ear as they prepare to join the Church.
